Settling in...

So I have been in Afghanistan for three months now and so much has happened!  I have moved into my permanent accommodation and have begun to make it feel like home, with photos of family and friends and paintings from my goddaughters!

I have been studying Dari for about two and a half months and have got used to all the greetings, as well as becoming more confident in going shopping and asking for the things I need.  More and more I am finding myself understanding conversations although not necessarily quick enough to chip in my own thoughts!  I am feeling my British education has badly let me down with English grammar and this has an impact on my lessons, however google is helping me learn quickly what I should have learnt in school!

In addition to language I have had the opportunity to see the sights of Kabul a bit, visiting Barbur's Gardens, Darulaman Palace and the British Cemetery

This weekend is Eid and so I have a four day break from my lessons.  It is a time to visit friends, relatives and neighbours so I hope to do that a bit and to enjoy time to catch up with my homework!

So Kabul is slowly becoming home and I am slowly making friends and getting to know people. I am still missing friends and family from the UK but I feel I am settling in more. Hopefully the next time I update I will have some more interesting stories to tell!
