2014

So the question most people ask when you say you live in Afghanistan is "What do you think will happen in 2014?"  Well the answer is I really don't know, and everyone I ask here has a different opinion too.

2014 is a big year for Afghanistan.  On 5 April the Presidential and Provincial elections will be held.  This is a major election which could really shape the country for the future.

It is also the year where the troops withdraw, many ask what this will mean, not only for security but also for the economy with many Afghans losing jobs.

It feels like a year with many uncertainties and many questions that lie ahead.  A year which many worry about and are not sure how they will make it through.  For others its a time of opportunity and new beginnings.

As I look forward to what 2014 might bring, there is a sense of anticipation and hope that this could be a great year for this country.  And it all starts tomorrow....
